These sessions are designed to help growers and advisors better understand the opportunities, risks, and decision points around summer cropping and rotations — supporting confident, well-framed rotation decisions.  


Garah – Tuesday 17 March, 2pm – 5:30pm 

Smart Summer Cropping at Garah: A Practical Guide to Opportunities, Risks, and Rotation Decisions 

Garah Community Hall, 15 Midkin Street, Garah 

What we’ll cover: 

  • Understand the role of summer crops in the Garah region. Including whether summer cropping outperforms winter-only rotations for production and profitability, and the best fit for summer crops in rotations (AMPS Research) 

  • Summer cropping case studies and practical tips to maximise returns and rotational benefits from summer crops. Discussion will include balancing winter and summer cropping programs, fallow and soil water management, herbicides, logistics, and handling unfavourable seasons (Poole Ag) 

  • Participate in a decision health check to boost confidence in rotation choices (CSIRO).

  • Summer cropping case studies and practical tips to maximise returns and rotational benefits from summer crops. Discussion will include balancing winter and summer cropping programs, fallow and soil water management, herbicides, logistics, and handling unfavourable seasons (Poole Ag) 

  • Decision health check to support confident rotation decisions (CSIRO).

Optimising Rotations and Cropping Intensity on the Liverpool Plains: A Practical Guide to Opportunities, Risks, and Rotation Decisions

This workshop explores how rotation and cropping intensity affect productivity and profitability, focusing on when to adjust intensity after summer crops.  

What we’ll cover: 

  • Explore how rotation choices impact Liverpool Plains' profitability, with guidance on adjusting cropping intensity (AMPS Research) 

  • Crop rotation case studies and practical tips to maximise the returns and rotation benefits from crop selection and double cropping opportunities. Discussion will include transitioning out of summer crops, fallow and soil water management, logistics, and handling unfavourable seasons (Glen Pinn, Pinnacle Agriculture) 

  • Decision health check to improve confidence in future rotation decisions (CSIRO)
